Just to follow up – Shay and I did finish the work on integrating Terracotta and Compass – see http://www.kimchy.org/compasslucene-terracotta-integration/

It’s a lot better than clustering the Lucene RAMDirectory. Anecdotal evidence hints at many times throughput improvement.

Solr is outside of my goal of using the existing Grails Searchable Plugin, primarily due to time constraints, but it does look compelling. Hmm… perhaps worthy of it’s own grails plugin, but not right now Thanks!

Have a look at solr. It comes with some replication solutions and you can add/search objects over plain http.

Currently, Terractoa support Lucene 2.0, which I think the current Grails plugin support as well (it needs to be upgraded to the recent Compass – 1.2, and Lucene – 2.2).

I will be working with the Terractoa guys at simplifying the integration with Compass. But in any case, the Terractoa and Grails issues will need to be resolved as well…
